Community RFD is an interdenominational food ministry in Giles County, TN helping fight hunger among our neighbors.

It all begins with a donation. When you donate to our organization, we take the money and purchase food from our partners to distribute on the third Saturday of each month. Donate by clicking on the button or sending a check to 114 N. Third St. Pulaski, TN 38478.

Sort and pack.

On the third Thursday of the month our trailer of purchased food arrives back to our location, the old Sharp Motor building next to the United Methodist Church on N. 2nd St. in Pulaski, TN, at 1:00 PM. At 6:00 PM volunteers arrive to sort and pack boxes for our food distribution.

Distribution.

On the following Saturday from sorting and packing, RFD volunteers arrive at the scheduled location at 8:30 AM. Families and individuals begin arriving at 9:00 AM to begin receiving the packed food boxes.

Bread Ministry

RFD volunteers travel to Tullahoma weekly to pick up bread and bread items to distribute during our monthly distributions. These items are also shared throughout our community with local school backpack programs, The Pouring Spot, Pulaski Boys and Girls Club, Giles County Senior Center, God’s Storehouse, Pulaski Help Center, New Canaan Ranch, Matthew 25, and others.

According to Feeding America, food insecurity describes a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live an active, healthy life. Food insecurity is one way we can measure and assess the risk of hunger. In the United States currently, 1 in 9 people struggle with hunger.

 

According to United for Alice, for a single adult to afford the basic necessities (e.g., housing, food, transportation, health care, technology, taxes) in Giles County they must make an hourly wage of $9.05. For a family (2 adults, 1 infant, and 1 preschooler), they must make a combined $24.23 hourly wage.
